After almost a decade of use, Drupal 7 is formally approaching its end of life. Starting November 2023, official support for Drupal 7 will discontinue, and the Drupal Security Team will no longer provide security updates. But what does this mean for your website?

What Will Change?
According to Drupal, there are a number of changes users can except if they stay on Drupal 7:
- These websites will no longer be supported by the community at large, which means the Drupal community will not create new projects, fix bugs in existing projects or write documentation for this version.
- Websites using Drupal 7 may be flagged as insecure in third-party scans.
- The Drupal Security Team will no longer provide support or Security Advisories for Drupal 7 core or contributed modules, themes or other projects.
What Does This All Mean?
Essentially, if your site stays on Drupal 7 past November 2023, it will be exposed to security vulnerabilities—and may be flagged as unsecure, negatively impacting your website’s traffic. And while 2023 may seem far off, Drupal is actually suggesting you make changes sooner than that. It’s recommended that you migrate your site to the latest version of Drupal as soon as possible to ensure your website is prepared for Drupal 7's end of life.
